I think you are right. After I looked at how mine came out and looked at his EXIF data better, I noticed the same. His was also an 8 second shot and mine were 1.3 and 3.2. He also had a wider focal length. I will try again. The one you posted first looks like it was taken in a lit tunnel after a rain shower or frost had melted off of the windows.
